I’ll never forget that day I spent with my wonderful friend Nadine (actually one of the most important people in the world for me!) and her gorgeous family at the beach of Timmendorfer Strand.
Of course I had my camera with me, as it’s so rare that we get to spend time together; simply because we live so far apart. But all our plans seemed to fall flat the minute we arrived at the sea side and the thunder started. Sheets of rain literally came down sideways and all we could do was to wait it out under the eaves of a little hut – if I remember that correctly that was the public toilet …not so romantic :).
At some point, the rain died down just enough for us to rush back to the car and as I took a last quick glance back to the beach I saw the sun starting to peek through the clouds, resulting in THE most miraculous light and almost unreal colors! We just looked at each other, laughed – and ran back into the sand.
Suddenly, we had an otherwise crowded but now absolutely empty beach to ourselves – to play, have fun, and be silly…
All in all we probably had only about fifteen minutes of that magic just when we noticed that the next thunderstorm was already brewing. How lucky can one be to catch that little window??
That was perhaps the shortest ‘photo session’ I will have ever enjoyed. Certainly it’s one of those I treasure the most!
